Aarakshan – Reservation or Legal Discrimination

Government’s Reservation Policy is that Other Backward Class are entitled to 27% reservations in public sector employment and higher education. But it’s all politics for politicians, within government. According to TOI, ever since this policy came, only 7% seats are filled by OBC Candidates. However, still 27% of quota is always full. What does this tell? Seats are “Sold” to those who pay for it most.

For Government, this is the most important thing. Why? Because they seek to keep 27% of votes in their pocket and for those who divide these seats, one of the most profitable business in India. Who are the looser here? The very same People for whom this policy was made and those who are affected due to this policy.

Fundamental right recognized by the constitution is Right to equality, including equality before law, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, and equality of opportunity in matters of employment, abolition of untouchability and abolition of titles.

So, here is the conflict of language used or meant to be taken for. If Every Citizen has equal right, than why classify any group as a “Backward Class”? All must be treated equally, and equal chance should be given based on hard work and ability of person regardless of which group person belongs to. If government wants to do something good, than they can offer free higher education or even cover 75% of fees of student even if he plans to attend private institutes for higher education.

But, for their vote bank politics, legal discrimination is what politicians always force for. While, we must move forward and think of all as same, it’s just own corrupt government who is using classifying of groups for their purpose and those groups also doesn’t get much benefit as their seats are sold for cash. It’s not Reservation Policy but it should be called Legal Discrimination Policy.

Above Article was by Vinod Naneria, in which he has made similar points in excellent detail. We are more welcoming when someone works hard and earns their status in society, but not at the cost of shrinking equal rights of others and allowing government to divide and rule for their political party.

It’s sad to see how politicians or leaders take benefit of lack of knowledge of certain groups and use it for own purpose. Honest way to solve this is education and equal treatment with financial help which people actually receive without any corruption involved. And we the people should our self must not treat anyone any different from we would expect us to be treated.

My first encouter of brastachar, was seen 1985, I was submitting an application in one of the best polytechnic college during those days. an elderly gentleman was standing in front of me in the line, as he approached the counter he submitted an envelope filled with money along with the application, he did not know what his son wanted to study, but he had plenty of money. I know what I wanted to study but I had no money, I was working in school summer holidays, as my mother had died, father was an alcoholic. It was upto me to study what I wanted to become. I did not get the admission. Later I came to know, the seats are reserved for my classmates, who belong to different groups. India always complain why they are not number one, when they can produce brilliant minds. the reason is we don’t give opportunity for the bests. we give opportunity for the ones who have and who are entitled. Later after 2 years I saw one of the brutal attacks, that was when VP singh implemented 27% quota. My question is and always will be, What should a person do If he is born as a brahmin, but no parents, very poor but has high grades in school? where is his rights to freedom of education? My classmate who was always playing with girls!! Yet belong to a different group is awarded a seat, even when his father is filthy rich? where is justice? India will never become number one. As we are most racist country in the world!. One day China will be greater and mightier than us. Because we will be creating , incompetent minds as doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers, who do not deserve to be there in the first place. Number of groups demanding seperate state, jobs, employment, education has gone in the recent times than in the past days. India’s glory is going to come down. Fatefully mourning for the downfall of india.

Unfortunately, corruptions is the most profitable domestic underground business of India. And one way or another, we all are part or victim of it. True, India is racist country, and perhaps world’s most since it just discriminates it’s own people in ‘Democratic way’.
